Erica Jane (Filanc) Tanamachi is a bi-lingual award-winning filmmaker and MFA Cinema graduate of San Francisco State University. She directs and produces feature vérité documentaries, corporate content, conferences and commercials. Notably, Erica was Co-Founder and Creative Director of Christopher Collins, a nationally recognized clothing label that sold to over 100 boutiques nationwide, including Neiman Marcus. Erica received her Bachelor of Arts from UC Davis in English (Creative Writing) and Theater and spent a year studying at La Universidad de Santiago, Chile. Erica’s an ultra-runner, iron(wo)man finisher and cargo bike riding mother of two. Erica’s films have screened in festivals all over the world, garnering awards and recognition - with her latest two films HOME COURT (Independent Lens, 2025) and WINN (Reel South, 2022) broadcast on PBS. She has received funding and support from ITVS Open Call, California Humanities Fund, CAAM, Big Sky Pitch, Gotham Week Market, If/Then Films, The Asian American Foundation, Women Make Movies, Perspective Fund and private donors. She is a 2024 Wyncote Fellow. With over 20 years of filmmaking experience, Erica has the professionalism, knowledge and creativity to bring any story to life.
